Despite having sold over 20 million books in Asia, it's rare to have had anything written by my own teacher, Zen master Nan Huai-chin, available in English. Bavo is an excellent translator, and this is an excellent book due to the original materials and his additions. People are always asking me to reopen my Stages course, which I haven't done in four years, and this even goes over many of the very same cases, principles and discussions I use in my Stages course, so this is a very efficient way to get a handle on the entire field of cultivation and what it's about.
