OK, one thing at a time. Yoga Business Coaching is a partnership of deep communication
-- an empowering dialogue designed to serve your success as a yoga entrepreneur.
This is not a typical consulting scenario. In an on-going relationship, we will
develop a trust that will allow me to serve as your advisor and confidant, helping
you envision and achieve your business and personal goals.
As a sounding board and catalyst for creative thinking, we will ensure that you
make good choices for your business and your life. Together, we will co-design projects,
marketing campaigns, and implement systems that will make your venture grow and
flow smoothly.
My program is tailored specifically to your unique situation, regardless of whether
your business is in start-up phase or already established. We will look at your
entire life as your yoga, with your business as an extension of who you are. We
will fit your business into your life in a way that will support your highest goals,
and your highest good.
This program works - but don't take my word for it - read some of the over 60 pages

Favorite Yoga Quotes
One of my all-time favorite quotes about being remarkable:
"There is a vitality, a life force, an energy, a quickening that is translated through
you into action, and because there is only one of You in all time. This expression
is unique. And if you block it, it will never exist through any other medium and
will be lost."

Namasté david,
Happy Earth and Record Store Day!
You know about Earth Day, but I bet you didn't know that it's also Record Store
Day. Yes, I mean records, you know, those big, wobbly disks that are all vinyl and
black? If someone told me ten years ago that an old-school, non-digital technology
would make a powerful comeback 30 years after the CD changed everything, I would
have told them that it's a nice pipe dream and that they should go take their meds.
Fast forward to today, and indeed, vinyl records are hot - and music labels, as
well as turntable manufacturers are scampering to meet demand! And it's not coming
just from old stalwarts like me who never stopped spinning records - but from the
iPod generation as well - yes, even youngins' that have never touched a turntable
before. That's not just remarkable, it's amazing.
Since 2004, when I first donned the cape, spandex tights and secret decoder ring
that transformed me into The Yoga Business Coach, I've been engaged in the ongoing
study of how businesses become remarkable. Because, as it turns out, remarkable
businesses seem to thrive in just about any economy.
Now, as yogis, we generally do not resonate with the marketing tactics of big business...
but once in a while, I believe we can learn a lot from watching innovative companies
that are really doing things right.
(Wait, inspiration from Corporate America, Alón? Yeah, well, this should be interesting.)
Oh, and make sure you watch the videos at the very bottom... they are good examples
of companies not being afraid to be (ahem) remarkable.
In gratitude... Enjoy.

Being Remarkable
Lately, my friend John has been saying, "We're living in the future." Think about
it... although it doesn't sound very yogic, what used to be science fiction is
now becoming part of our everyday lives. The simple fact that we can now make a
video phone call to anywhere in the world and seethe person we're speaking with
on a small, hand held wireless device, for free,is completely amazing to me.
Wildly successful products and services come from remarkable businesses that have
captured our attention with something meaningfulto us. It does not matter whether
the offer is new technology, pizza, or yoga.
With that in mind, a little while ago, on a brisk morning, I did something fascinating
-- or crazy, depending on your perspective. At 6:30AM, I drove to the mall, knowing
the Apple Computer store would open at 7:00AM and I could beat the rush to buy the
new iPhone. By the time I arrived, 15 minutes before the doors opened, the line
was already three hours long! And that was if you had a reservation... the non-reserved
line was three times longer. It was like a rock concert queue, but for buying a
phone! I was mesmerized.
I enjoy new technology, but I'm quite allergic to standing in line for just about
anything... however, there was something magnetic about watching this unique marketing
machine in action.
In the long line-up, all kinds of people, in suits, and shorts, young and old,
some toting sleeping bags (!) were talking with each other, smiling, offering to
bring total strangers a coffee and insistingon paying for it. They were excited
and happy to be there. No one complained.
A swarm of blue shirted Apple employees worked the crowd, genuinely smiling, answering
questions, striking up conversations and handing out free bottles of water, pastries
and hot drinks to all. As they estimated, it took me exactly three hours to get
to the front of the line (I still cannot believe I actually did this).
Inside, the store was packed, but no one seemed rushed. The Apple employee assigned
to me was calm and thorough. I was done in a few minutes, and as I left the store,
I was congratulated and applaudedby the door staff as well as those in line! It
was surreal.
This is not an accident. Apple has created an enormous, vibrant and talkative niche
- a community of their loyal customers who are bound together by a common love
of a well designed product line that affects their lives in a positive way (to those
of you who have worked with me directly, these ideas should sound familiar).
Apple takes every opportunity to celebrate, surprise and communicate with their
community. If the beaming smiles on the faces that morning is any indication, this
way of doing business works exceedingly well.
Is it a coincidence that Apple is now worth more as a company than any other, including
Microsoft?I don't think so.
Very few ventures have "becoming remarkable" in their business plan. Most, including
yoga businesses, look to the more established in their field and copy the formula
with some modifications that personalize their offer to some degree.
It's not easy to be remarkable, but the payoff is very high. On our next Yoga of
Business Seva-Driven Tele-Class, we'll discuss what may be in the way of your business
becoming more remarkable and how to break through, discover your unique voice, and
get your students talking with everyone they know about your yoga. To join us in
this lively discussion, see below.

The Spirit of Yoga
The Spider Thread
by Masao Yokota
The Buddha was in a lotus-filled garden when he perceived a man named "Kandata"
who was squirming in the depths of Hell. He had been a murderer, an arsonist, and
thief. A lifetime of these causes had put him in hell. He was in the company of
others like him.
The Buddha looked further into Kandata's life and saw an incident where Kandata
came upon a spider. He raised his foot to stomp on it. Suddenly, he reconsidered,
thinking, "There is no doubt that this spider is also a living being and it is a
shame to take its life for no reason." In the end he spared the spider.
Knowing this, the Buddha took a spider thread and lowered it to into depths of Hell
with the intention of saving Kandata.
Kandata reached for the thread and found it strong enough to hold his weight. Using
all his strength he began lifting himself from Hell.
After some progress, he looked down and saw hundreds of others behind him climbing
on the same spider thread.
He shouted back at them: "Get off! This is mine!" Just then, the thread broke and
Kandata fell back into Hell.
